The brethren immediately sent Paul and Silas away by night to Berea, and when they arrived, they went into the synagogue of the Jews. Now these [Bereans] were more noble-minded than those in Thessalonica, for they received the word with great eagerness, examining the Scriptures daily to see whether these things were so.
Acts 17:10-11 NASB
I encourage you to examine the scriptures and see if what I say is so. The Bible is internally consistent, so scripture interprets scripture and what I say about a scripture must be in line with the rest of scripture. What a mouthful. In other words, what I say about one bit of the Bible must be generally consistent with the rest of the Bible.
However, the Bible does have apparent internal contradictions, so if what I say about one bit of the Bible appears to contradict another bit of the Bible don’t automatically assume that I’m wrong: everything may become clear if you dig deeper.
If what someone says about the Bible is correct you will often have a lightbulb moment in which the part of the Bible under discussion and related parts of the Bible become clearer.
Remember that I am answerable to God for what I say, and you are answerable to God for what you do (or don’t do) in response to what I say. E.g., if I say “Hezekiah 7:21 says that you should murder your neighbour tomorrow” and you do that I am not responsible for that murder, but I am responsible for my false teaching.
